“It doesn’t have to be great. It just has to be perfect.”—Hans T. Berggren
Home improvements have been a tradition in the Berggren family for over 50 years. When I was young and working on my father’s jobs, he often gave me a task and would advise, “It doesn’t have to be great. It just has to be perfect.” To this day, I hear those words echoing in my mind as I approach any new project. His words and spirit of adventure is why Viking Roofing are named in his honor (read the story below).

The Story:
My father, Hans (Tommy to his family and friends) came to America from Sweden in 1970 on an adventure with two friends, without a dime in his pocket. Their journey began in the summer of 1968 in Gothenburg, Sweden. One of those friends bought a boat on a whim, and a simple plan. With no experience, they would sail Three Wishes around the Baltic and North Seas for a couple weeks to learn to sail, explore, and enjoy the summer warmth. My father brought his text books to study and a guitar to entertain during windless spells. All three were immediately hooked. My father threw his books in the ocean and never looked back. Two weeks turned into two years of exploring: Europe, North Africa, the Canary Islands, the Caribbean. They crossed the Atlantic Ocean, finally put into harbor, and settled in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Hans, Hasse, and Gunnar started new lives in the New World.
